Montgomery Street Elementary School Improvements – Chatham County, Georgia

J.W. Oliver Construction partnered with Balfour Beatty to revitalize the Montgomery Street Elementary School campus in Chatham County, transforming the previously unused facility into a temporary educational home for students during the construction of the new J.G. Smith Elementary School. Recognizing the need to provide a modern, safe learning environment while major improvements were underway at J.G. Smith, Chatham County selected Montgomery Street Elementary as a “swing site” to accommodate students throughout the construction.

The project included the demolition of existing infrastructure and the installation of new site utilities, including domestic water, fire water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems. Additional improvements included roadway base construction, asphalt paving, curb and gutter installation, and new sidewalks to enhance accessibility and site functionality.

Through rigorous planning and coordination, J.W. Oliver Construction helped deliver a fully revitalized campus that not only served students during the J.G. Smith Elementary School rebuild but also furnished Chatham County with a valuable future swing school site for upcoming school renovation and construction projects. This investment ensures the district has a flexible, modern facility available to support educational continuity during future campus improvements.
